Fall Whimsy – A Wedding in Water Mill, NY

Although the October wedding day of Stacey and Jim was beautiful and marked by rich detail and some dashing furry friends, there was one outside factor that couldn’t be helped: rain, and lots of it. Since both the ceremony and reception were to be held on the lawn of the bride’s parents’ home in Water Mill, wedding planner Jill Gordon of Jill Gordon Celebrate was forced to execute her “Plan B.” Instead of holding the ceremony and cocktails outside in the open, she grouped different sized tents together to protect guests throughout each stage of the day’s festivities.

Cocktails were held under a 46 x 65 ft. Sperry Tent and dinner and dancing were held under a larger 46 x 125 ft. tent. For the reception decor, Jill Gordon says, “We wanted to create a very unique, whimsical autumnal atmosphere. I designed a rich, sophisticated tabletop using a palette of jewel-tone dupioni silk, bronze and amber glass, and dark wood.”

Florist Jeff Pennington of Pennington Flowers masterminded the creative collections of “critters,” vegetation, vines, bark, and interesting pods.
